It’s here!
Bead Soup Reveal Day…and I made it by the skin of my teeth…again. But no one wants to hear about that. Bring on the party!
My partner, Marion Simmons, of Shade Tree Studios sent me some yummy ingredients. Here’s a recap:
The focal is this huge 2″ x 3″ copper filigree piece that Marion wired an equally large copper flower onto. It sparkles with fairy dust and has a beautiful ruby center. You can also see copper round beads, bead caps, rose/taupe glass beads and a delicate copper toggle. Lots to work with!
I had some luscious rose beige freshwater pearls that I’d been hoarding for the right moment. It was time. The colors were perfect! And I had some interesting copper chain…
It took a few starts and stops to arrive at something I was happy with. That’s the way it goes. I ended up with two pieces. The necklace you see below that uses the centerpiece, copper rounds and the toggle, along with my pearls and chain.
Here are a couple of views:
It’s got a very romantic feel to it, and I thank Marion for sending me ingredients that took me in that direction. Here’s another look…the full necklace. It’s two strands, one of the pearls with the copper rounds breaking up the strand and one of the cool copper chain. I decided to hang the focal vertically.
The second piece might change…It’s sort of where I was going. About 90% where I want it. And a totally different look than the necklace. It uses the tiny glass beads from Art by Lisi, a gorgeous dyed silk ribbon from Julie Mitchell, and a couple of my own etched copper disks. The glass beads add some movement and the bracelet ribbon wraps around the wrist and ties.
Here’s a look at it tied on my wrist:

March 3rd, 2012 at 7:01 am
so vintage looking, your design goes perfect with the beads
March 3rd, 2012 at 7:59 am
Thank you, Pam. I don’t do a lot of vintage pieces, so this was a nice change of pace.
March 3rd, 2012 at 8:11 am
I love them Lisa! You really were saving those pearls for just the right thing! They compliment the focal and the copper perfectly, too cool!
And I think I might be in love with the bracelet. I hardly ever use ribbon but I love it when other people do!
March 3rd, 2012 at 9:56 am
Thanks for providing such great materials, Marion! Your focal is a hit.
March 3rd, 2012 at 8:54 am
That focal IS romantic I really like what you did with it. The silk ribbon bracelet is very different, I bet it’s comfy to wear. I like the copper on it!
March 3rd, 2012 at 9:57 am
Thanks, Nicker! Tying the bracelet is a bit interesting with only 2 hands. 🙂
March 3rd, 2012 at 10:46 am
I love the romantic flair of that necklace – very pretty & feminine. That lovely bracelet opens up my mind to about a ton more projects I could make! Lovely work!

Thank you, Sandra…it’s just a matter of finding the time, isn’t it!
March 3rd, 2012 at 11:14 am
Romantic is EXACTLY how I would have described that soup. It’s the word that was floating in my head from the first picture. Those pearls do a really nice job of continuing that feeling. I do like the texture of the bracelet. It especially looks good on your wrist! Well done. 🙂

The bracelet is so cute! I love that it’s different than other bracelets I’ve seen. The necklace is gorgeous too.
March 3rd, 2012 at 3:18 pm
The necklace is really beautiful. Has a sweet, vintage feel to it. I also really like how the second piece looks wrapped around a wrist. Maybe add a toggle to the end to make it easy to put on and take off (bracelets are tricky as we are then left with one hand to tie/attach!
March 3rd, 2012 at 3:22 pm
Gorgeous necklace. That focal while it may be large is dainty and feminine. You pulled it all together nicely!

Those pearls were just the right complement for that beautiful focal pendant. Love the necklace. And I have to say that your etched copper discs are amazing. I love the rose/flower design on them – very Charles Rennie Macintosh I feel.

March 4th, 2012 at 6:06 am
Lisa, the pearls are perfect and I would of never thought of breaking up the strand with the copper beads. That focal is lovely too, glad you hung it vertically. The bracelet is nice the way it is, I don’t think I would change a thing.

March 5th, 2012 at 2:41 pm
What a beautiful Victorian Romantic looking necklace. It is gorgeous and I think hanging the pendant vertically was the way to go. It is really pretty. The wrap bracelets are so popular now and I love the way your beads dangle on the ribbon. It is very pretty too. Great job!
March 5th, 2012 at 7:11 pm
Great job with the necklace – It had great balance!
The bracelet looks like so much fun to wear!
