It’s All About the Follow-Through

Creative projects go through many stages: starts, false starts, beginnings, middles, restarts, start-over, ends, hopefully ending up in completion and success.

Writing and publishing a book adds even more stages once the first draft is finished:  written draft 1 through N, edit rounds A to nn, layout/design and revision cycles, cover design, cover redesign, final draft, proofreading, more proofreading, print submission, print proof, printing, waiting, ebook conversion…and this doesn’t even get to the marketing/selling aspect!

Suffice it to say that many, many writers stall out at various stages in the process. Never having felt the desire to write (beyond occasional magazine articles on jewelry projects and sporadic blogging), I have great respect for those who make it to the end of the process that I see—getting to print.

I’ve helped a lot of writers and publishers get books to that stage over the last 20 years (taking an edited manuscript and designing the pages and covers). Helping my friend, Deanna Chase, was a highlight (to say the least!). I’ve watched from cyberspace as she crafted Haunted on Bourbon Street through starts and restarts, edit cycles, rewrites to final manuscript. We worked together to bring the book (and ebook versions) to life and through the wonder of the internet, I got to see the first box of books (all SOLD now) in their final form. To say I’m excited for her is an understatement! She nailed FOLLOW-THROUGH and I know she’ll do just as well with the really hard part: Marketing.

I know this because along with being a published author, Deanna is a successful businesswoman and she is tireless in perfecting and adjusting that aspect of the art glass business she runs with her husband. I learn from her every day, whether it be from blog topics about running an online business or quick FB chats to point me in the direction of a link I didn’t save.

But back to the book…it’s available in print and various eformats HERE. (Wow, she’s done more work on the marketing/selling than last time I was here!)

Congratulations on this epic achievement, Deanna! Can’t wait to work on the next Jade Calhoun book with you.

And, here’s a teaser about this paranormal romance:

Jade loves her new apartment  ̶ until a ghost joins her in the shower.

When empath Jade Calhoun moves into an apartment above a strip bar on Bourbon Street, she expects life to get interesting. What she doesn’t count on is making friends with an exotic dancer, attracting a powerful spirit, and having feelings for Kane, her sexy landlord.

Being an empath has never been easy on Jade’s relationships. It’s no wonder she keeps her gift a secret. But when the ghost moves from spooking Jade, to terrorizing Pyper, the dancer, it’s up to Jade to use her unique ability to save her. Except she’ll need Kane’s help—and he’s betrayed her with a secret of his own—to do it. Can she find a way to trust him and herself before Pyper is lost?
