Ornament Thursday: As “Luck” Would Have It…

This month’s Ornament Thursday theme is “Luck” and I’m darn lucky I got an entry completed! I have to thank my friend, Kari, for her earring idea, which I’ve adapted slightly for this theme. I’m lucky to have such great online friends.

I had in mind to do a twist on the “Luck” with a “Wild Irish Rose” slant after my daughter, Emma Rose, who has dual citizenship thanks to her father’s Irish blood. But time ran out (darn short months!) and I was scrambling for something appropriate.

My “Luck of the Irish” earrings are my twist on Kari’s idea…Swarovski cubes and Karen Hill Tribe silver in place of Swarovski bicones. They are fast and easy (and they look better than my pic!).

Supplies:
2 French Wire hook earrings
2 8mm Swarovski cubes (Olivine)
2 8mm Karen Hill Tribe silver woven cubes
2 6mm Swarovski cubes (Opaline)
4 flattop headpins
2 ball tip headpins
2 5mm closed rings

Tools:
Flush cutter
Roundnose plyer

Instructions:
Thread the Swarovski cubes onto the flattop headpins and the Karen Hill Tribe cubes onto the balltip headpins. Line up the 3 different cubes in a stepped fashion and trim the headpins at the top. Take a closed ring and wire the headpins onto it with a simple wrap (1 8mm crystal, 1 8mm silver, 1 6mm crystal). Repeat for the other ring and 3 remaining headpins. Open the loop on the earring hook and place the ring onto it. Close. Voila! Earrings…
